Action Needed on Mercury!
Posted: Mon, September 24, 2007
On October 3, the Indiana Air Pollution Control Board will take final action on a rule to limit mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants. IDEM's position is that Indiana should adopt the minimum federal requirements. Improving Kids' Environment has offered a compromise that would result in 10,000 fewer pounds of mercury released into Indiana's environment during the period 2010-2025 than the federal rule at very little extra cost to the ratepayers. Save the Dunes Council supports this compromise.
Attached is more information on this topic. Please contact members of the Air Board (their names and contact information is provided in the attachment) to urge them to vote for a better rule for public health in Indiana. And feel free to contact me with any questions.
Thanks,
