Join Save the Dunes and the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore for stewardship days at Miller Woods to assist with the Oak Savanna Restoration Project. The National Lakeshore will host a stewardship day every fourth Saturday of the month starting in January 2015. As a bonus, on January 24th, April 25th, July 25th, and October 24th Cathy Martin of Save the Dunes will lead a hike to the restoration site and provide a short presentation on the work being done to restore the globally rare black oak savanna in Miller Woods, Tolleston Dunes, and the Indiana Dunes State Park. Following the presentation there will be a stewardship component. If you’re looking to learn more about the project and its ecological significance, or if you’re looking to lend a hand to help the National Lakeshore restore over 500 acres of oak savanna in Miller Woods, please join us for these monthly events!
