With the new year upon us, Save the Dunes is hard at work preparing for the Indiana State Legislative session. The 2025 session of the Indiana General Assembly officially starts this week on January 8th and lasts until late April.

Lawmakers also will have to pass a new budget to run the state for the next two years during this session. Some of the key environmental issues already being discussed in bills include data centers, water usage, and carbon sequestration. 

In the coming weeks, Save the Dunes will post a bill watch list highlighting some of the bills that are of high priority to our region and our organization, and will post any important updates about on our social media sites. We will continue to work with our local representatives during the session to help support and advocate for the Indiana dunes, Lake Michigan, and the surrounding natural areas for the health and vitality of the environment, and the people who live, work, and recreate in Northwest Indiana.
