The Thanksgiving holiday weekend is traditionally a time for connecting with family, eating good food, and scoring some great deals. This year, as we countdown the days until Giving Tuesday – a global day of generosity – we are sharing some opportunities for you to Get Outside, Get Involved, and Give with Save the Dunes!

Below are a few upcoming events where you and your family can experience the wonder of the Indiana Dunes while getting informed about the role you can play their protection.

On Wednesday, November 23rd, visit the IN Dunes State Park at 10:00a for a High Dunes Hike Before the Big Meal. Strap on your hiking shoes and join a Naturalist to not only see beautiful views, but to learn more about both the natural and cultural history of the Indiana Dunes State Park as you explore one of our tallest dunes.

Next, Black Friday is traditionally a day filled with shopping, but what if this year you opted to slow things down a bit? After the big meal, you and your loved ones can #OptOutside with Save the Dunes and the National Park Service by joining us at West Beach on November 25th at 1pm to take a leisurely stroll on one of the most historic trails in all of Northwest Indiana.

Then, on Cyber Monday, we have a special treat for you! We’re launching an online shop where you can purchase the latest Save the Dunes merch for yourself, your family, and friends. Be one of the first visitors to our webstore on November 28th and take advantage of a very special sale!

This brings us to Giving Tuesday on November 29. We’ll be hosting an Advocacy 101 Training session beginning at 6:30p. You can participate in person at Save the Dunes headquarters at Barker House in Michigan City (registration required), or virtually via Facebook Live. This will be a wonderful opportunity for you to learn about how to serve your community and influence legislation. You won’t want to miss it!

And of course, there’s Giving Tuesday itself! Giving Tuesday was created to encourage people to do good and give back to the causes they hold dear. This global movement now inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, volunteer, and celebrate generosity.
