Save the Dunes Invites You to Join Us for Our
Winter Wellness Series

Science shows us that there is a direct correlation between spending time in nature, and our mental and physical health. The Indiana Dunes sits precisely at the intersection of industry and natural spaces, and our community members after often impacted by health related concerns. Studies show that on average, folks in La Porte County experience 14 or more bad mental health days a month.

We kicked this series off with a webinar discussing Mindfulness in Green Spaces last month, watch the recording here.

To continue on with this intention, of encouraging folks to get outside, enjoy the natural spaces we are so lucky to have, and to practice mindfulness when we are on the trails. To continue this project,  we are hosting a series of Winter Wellness Walks.  Read on and mark your calendars. We hope to see you outside this winter!

Friday, February 7th, 2025. 4:00PM Shirley Heinze Land Trust- Ivanhoe South

Winter is an amazing time to see the ecosystems of the Indiana Dunes really doing their thing. We’ll meet in Gary at Ivanhoe South, a  Shirley Heinze Land Trust property.  This property contains rare dune and swale habitat, so grab your boots and we’ll hit the trail together!

After being rescheduled due to inclement weather, we’ll gather at historic Mt. Baldy, in the Indiana Dunes National Park for a guided hike (1.5 miles out and back), and participate in a group wave meditation on the beach, weather permitting.
