Join Save the Dunes for two exciting events featuring local artists!
We’re so excited to announce our community engagement programming for November 2023, with two events bringing regional artists to center stage. First we welcome artist Lindsay Olsen, along side The Wetlands Initiative, for the November broadcast of Northwest Indiana Green Drinks!
All around the world, wetlands support a tremendous diversity of plants and wildlife. The Wetlands Initiative’s first ever artist-in-residence Lindsay Olson spent time in the field with wetland ecologists and engineers before creating a series of wetland-inspired textile works that seek to share the science, process, benefits, and joys of restored wetlands through the lens of art. Lindsay will be joined by Harry Kuttner, Calumet Coordinator, to showcase both the art and science behind TWI restoration projects in the Calumet region.
On Thursday November 2nd, we invite you to join us via zoom for an evening presentation titled “Our Once and Future Wetlands: Art, Ecology, and Engineering”. Join us via zoom here, or on Facebook, just be sure to log on by 6:30 to catch the Live Stream!
Then on Saturday November 11th, grab a friend and come on over to the Historic Barker House, as we host artist Corey Hagelberg for an afternoon Artist Talk & Woodcut Demo from 2pm-4pm. Interested in attending this talk? Please send us an email to em@savedunes.org to RSVP by November 10th, 2023.
